The aim is to broaden the SEGA – One Health Network’s focus and intensify its work on issues such as entomological surveillance, insecticide resistance, vector control and the impact of insecticides on the environment. In addition, the link between the dynamics of vector populations and the diseases spread must be considered, taking into account environmental and climatic changes.

Achievements and best practices

Regional workshops bringing together vector control, surveillance and laboratory stakeholders:

  • Vector control training for technicians from Member States in La Réunion

  • Regional training courses in 2014 and 2017 on monitoring mosquito resistance to insecticides (phenotypic testing)

  • Evaluation of Vector Control/Entomology systems in IOC Member States in 2017 by theIPMin preparation for the fight against arboviroses, particularly Zika

  • Sharing information and knowledge:

    • Regular thematic teleconferences
    • Feedback between Mauritius and La Réunion (exchange visits, experience sharing)
  • Vector risk assessment (technical audit)

  • Regional workshops :

    • on the “vector risk” theme (2020)
    • for monitoring entomological surveillance indicators (June 2022)
