25 Comorian healthcare professionals received their FETP-Frontline One Health certification on May 10, 2024.
This is the second Comorian cohort. The certificate ceremony was held at the School of Medicine and Public Health in Moroni (Comoros).

What is FETP-Frontline One Health?

This short training course in field epidemiology is offered as part of the activities of the Indian Ocean Commission’s SEGA – One Health Network.
Specifically, it involves :

  • 13 weeks of training
  • Theory and practice
  • A “One Health” approach

What’s more, this course awards 28 ECTS and is one of the modules in the FETP Master’s program, in which 4 health professionals from Comoros will be taking part.

What are the objectives?

Training in field epidemiology means preparing healthcare professionals to understand and manage disease in real-life environments. This means learning to collect and analyze data, and to communicate effectively so they can act quickly. Why do we do this? To prevent the spread of disease and protect public health.

FETP-Frontline One Health in the Comoros …

Two cohorts have already benefited from this training.
Overall, 43 Comorian health professionals are now certified in field epidemiology. A third cohort, of 25 learners, is due to start in the coming weeks.

This training in field epidemiology aims to equip each IOC Member State with human resources that can be directly mobilized in the event of an epidemic.
Several cohorts have already been certified.
